Introduction
In a world that constantly demands us to conform, Fathmath Visama, widely known as Vicky, is a beacon of authenticity, resilience, and passion. From her roots in the small island community of F. Nilandhoo to her dynamic roles as a content creator, actor, model, and environmental advocate, Vicky's journey is a testament to the power of staying true to oneself.
Growing Up in a Close-Knit Community
Vicky’s upbringing in F. Nilandhoo instilled in her a deep appreciation for values and intentions. “The biggest thing I learned is how important values are, how important intentions are,” she reflects. While childhood was filled with emotions and experiences that were sometimes challenging, she believes every hardship has contributed to her growth.
A Multi-Faceted Career
Currently working as the Campaign Administrator for the Reethi Raajje Campaign at MATI, Vicky is on a mission to protect and celebrate the environment and heritage of the Maldives. While many recognize her from TikTok or as an actor and model, she has seamlessly blended her creative endeavors with her passion for advocacy.
Her inspiration for joining Reethi Raajje stemmed from her deep love for nature. “The more I learn, the more I realize we all need to individually do our part in protecting our environment, our culture, and our heritage because they are truly worth celebrating,” she shares.
Overcoming Challenges with Determination
Life, as Vicky acknowledges, is filled with challenges—whether personal, professional, financial, or familial. However, her belief in herself and her ability to rise above difficulties has been her greatest strength. “There have been amazing people who have helped me along the way, but the main thing is never giving up and never being afraid of failing. It's okay to fail. That’s how we learn.”
Advice to Young Women
For young women striving to make a difference, Vicky’s message is clear and empowering: “Be you. Look deep within to figure out what you care about and what you're passionate about. Try everything. You can always start over as many times as you need.”
Her words serve as a reminder that success is not a linear path, and the courage to explore, fail, and start again is what truly leads to fulfillment.
